The fleeting beauty of a flower in full bloom, or a fruit at the height of ripeness – sometimes when I look at the world around me it’s so beautiful that it makes my eyes and heart feel full.  I want to capture the feeling of those moments in my paintings.  I want to show that simple things can be bright and joyful.

Working mainly in oils, I like to render my subjects somewhere in the valley between realistic and stylized in order to allow room to highlight color and form when desired.  Working on smaller canvases keeps me from laboring over details and losing the big picture.
